Objectives

Stratford East is a producing theatre, built in 1884, in the heart of East London, situated a short walk from Stratford station. We have a proud history and an exciting future. We represent our culturally and socially diverse community in the work we make, the people we employ and our audiences and participants. We tell stories that are current, political and representative of London.

Learning & Participation is at the very heart of Stratford East and we have a range of activities available to all. From youth theatres to community partnerships, schools programmes to development opportunities for young people and adults. We deliver multiple projects in partnership with local groups and provide opportunities for Newham residents to get involved in life at Stratford East as they can join us at our monthly community socials, take part in theatre-based activities and get a sneak peek behind the scenes. We have a Freelancer Royalty Scheme designed to support arts freelancers aged 18+ who are living or working in East London and are committed to working with schools and colleges in Newham and East London. Our schools offer includes a range of one-off workshops and longer programmes designed for secondary schools in Newham, as well as schools’ ticket offers.

Activities

We reach out to community groups and schools in the area with all our opportunities as well as giving them a chance to make suggestions to the theatre, and advertise our affordable ticket scheme along with any offers to locals.
