Geographical remit:

Our vision is to be the facilitator of one community within the Stonegrove Estate. A community that works and plays together, for the betterment of ourselves and the local area.

Our overall organisational mission has two strands, as follows:

  1. The provision of a church and community centre available and attractive to the local community, and particularly to the following two groups:
  1. All residents from the ‘area of benefit’*
  2. Local residents facing disadvantage, such as through age, disability, or particular social or economic circumstance.
  1. The provision of services and activities, working towards the following aims:
  1. Improvement in resident’s socio-economic position.
  2. Education, skills, training, particularly around employment, business skills and helping to create financial self-sufficiency.
  3. Promotion and improvement of public safety and the prevention of crime.
  4. Promotion and improvement of public health and wellbeing.

We will take a flexible approach to achieving the above, using our significant physical assets for the benefit of the local community, and building on the many strengths and assets within our community and local area.

The work that we do with local residents and groups (St Peter’s Church, SEYP, Stonegrove Estate Community Group) has always been strengths based, trying to raise the capacity of our local community, so that they can take action for the betterment of their lives and the community around them. Our main priority over the next few years will be continuing to build on that work.

We will use an Assets Based Community Development approach (ABCD), to identify and build on the natural strengths and assets that exist in our local area. The first stage of developing this model in the local community will be accessing training for staff, volunteers & Trustees. The second stage will be a mapping exercise, which will begin to identify our community assets.
