Stomping Grounds (SG) target is families and young people (YP) with the least access to the outdoors; we aim to create a safe and inclusive spaces where all are valued and can feel a sense of belonging through developing a deeper connection to nature. We prioritise YP with disabilities, historically ethnically minoritized groups and those who suffer from disadvantage due to socio-economic factors. Recent feedback (Feb 2023) from YP we work with has included: “I wish the organisation had been running longer than 5 years, I struggled at times when I was younger and found school challenging, I feel my younger self would have really needed and appreciated Stomping Grounds.”
We offer Forest School activities in a range of settings, building dens, lighting fires and connecting with nature. Our aim is to be representative of the communities we serve and have worked hard to recruit those with disabilities and from historically marginalised ethnic backgrounds onto our team. Our work has grown significantly since our establishment in 2017 and we currently work in 5 separate local authority areas.
