Objectives

Stokenchurch Community Library serves the people of Stokenchurch and the surrounding area by providing a library and community information centre in conjunction with Buckinghamshire County Council.

This enables access to the full county library stock and other library services through a local outlet. Local people are also enabled to learn more about local activities and organisations, thus boosting the sense of community and wellbeing.

Activities

Stokenchurch Community Library is part of the Buckinghamshire County Council library service, providing full access to the same services in a completely volunteer run library. For the last 5 years we have been run by the community, for the community. We currently have a board of 7 trustees, and around 40 volunteers contributing to the day to day running of the library, fundraising, marketing, events and maintenance.

Stokenchurch Community Library has the formal charitable objective of the advancement of education for public benefit by provision of a library and community information centre serving Stokenchurch and the surrounding area.

As well as the core library service, we therefore also seek to provide information on local events, local organisations, local volunteer vacancies, local facilities etc. We are also expanding and diversifying the use of the venue to offer talks and other related activities, for example family history sessions.
