We at Stitches in Time us the arts to create an inclusive, cohesive Tower Hamlets. We deliver a core scheme of community development arts and education programmes, public commissions and training courses in arts and textiles, since 1993.
We support culturally diverse groups, some facing disadvantage and marginalisation, including elders, migrant women, children living in poverty and our wider community, to work together. We deal with a range of complex issues, such as domestic and financial abuse, poverty, long-term unemployment and isolation.
We provide a range of weekly classes for our local community. Our weekly English for Sewing classes, Sewing Social classes and access to personal support mean over 250 people attended a weekly class last year.
We work with hard to reach groups, and get referrals from partner organisations, other charities, refuges and women's groups, recognising our classes as a supportive environment for women to learn, meet and raise aspirations.
