Starting Point is a project run by The Mustard Tree Foundation and has opportunities to mentor local young people who are currently not in education, employment, and training.
Starting Point supports and provides mentoring for young people aged 15-25 throughout their journey of attaining, sustaining, and thriving within education and employment and training. We seek to provide through tailored, relational and holistic mentoring. We look to meet the young people where they are as they've faced barriers unique to them. As the mentors get to know the young people and show interest in their lives that they may not have received before, their mentor can walk alongside them and help them to make positives changes in their life.
At Starting Point MK we match a young person to a mentor who acts as a consistent role model, tailoring support to each individual's unique needs and aspirations. We train, equip, and match volunteers to a young person in need of support around education, employment, and training. Mentors can offer the mentee practical support (preparing CV’s, job searching, developing interview skills etc.) and social and emotional support (being a listening ear, working on communication skills, building a positive mental attitude etc.)
