Objectives

We are a totally volunteer run organisation devoted to furthering the study of and promoting the work of locally born artist Sir Stanley Spencer - one of the greatest British artists of the 20 th century.

We bring visitors from around the world into the small villages that make up The Cookhams - so promoting the local economy. More importantly we offer wonderful opportunities for education across all age groups.  His work is inspiring, nourishing, entertaining and thought provoking.  The small Gallery is a converted chapel - a heaven of calm in a noisy world.

Activities

We hold a collection of works which are exhibited in two shows a year - supplemented for summer exhibitions by works from other galleries, institutions and private owners.   We offer talks and village walks, knowledgeable custodians who are always on hand with information, free private access for school parties, disability groups and other paying visitors.  We run a website and simple IT in the Gallery with added information and regularly publish illustrated catalogues.  We open daily in the summer months and Thursday to Sunday in the winter.
