Objectives

The charity exists to benefit the residents of Champion Hill ward and surrounding areas, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions. We bring together local people, voluntary and other organisations, in coordination with the local authority, in order to improve the conditions of life for local residents, by providing services and activities to advance education, to provide social welfare, and for recreation and leisure.

Our priorities are:

  • To build community cohesion by giving diverse groups and individuals opportunities to meet together.
  • To address deprivation by providing facilities and activities for groups who are otherwise under-served.
  • To embrace diversity by having something to offer to all parts of our community.
  • To meet social and physical needs by hosting and initiating groups, such as to counter isolation and supporting mental and physical health.

Activities

We host and support a wide range of groups and activities - over 20 different groups, reaching nearly 600 people each week. These range from groups for young children, to out of school activities, to leisure clubs for adults, and to groups focused on education, supporting those with learning disability, countering substance abuse.

The foundation provides a venue, as well as support with running activities. We help our users with finance (e.g grant applications), with recruitment (e.g. marketing) with service provision (e.g. finding volunteers) etc. We also initiate new groups to address unmet needs
