The Southwood Foundation (TSF) is a small friendly charity, established in 2018, working to make a significant contribution in halting climate change and biodiversity loss. With our roots in the environment sector, we work to foster collaboration across sectors and approaches, convening a range of actors to work together and bring about the change we need.
We work to bring together sectors and organisations to accelerate action on the climate and biodiversity crises. One of our principal activities is running the Nature Action Hub, a volunteering platform for environment experts committed to making a difference by offering some free time and expertise to support communities’ nature initiatives. All our volunteers are environment professionals with experience and knowledge that they are willing to offer to community projects.
We match requests for expert help from community groups with volunteers on our database, make the arrangements and put them in touch to get rapid help.
Nature Action Hub volunteers are involved in diverse projects including the creation of woodland management plans, digital mapping of parish biodiversity surveys, tree planting, creation of nature corridors and invertebrate surveys. The Hub is currently operating in Sussex and is rapidly growing to cover London and the South-East of England.
