Objectives

SRA provides training and support for people with long-term mental health issues living in South East London who want to recover and take control of their lives. Our primary focus is helping people to return to open employment, but we also support people to access training, education, volunteering, and other opportunities to improve their mental wellbeing and progress along the road to recovery. We offer a welcoming environment and a holistic approach to enable people to take control of their lives, become more independent, improve concentration and confidence, develop skills and interests, improve social skills and learn to build positive and trusting relationships.

Activities

In order to meet our objectives, we run three social enterprises where our trainees can get involved with the aim of utilizing their individual strengths, talents, and interests. The social enterprises are located across two sites:

  1. Copyshop – West Norwood Site – Our printing service where we help to improve IT skills, teach to use our equipment, and learn customer service skills
  2. Catering – West Norwood Site – Our trainees help to cook a two-course lunch for all the trainees every day and learn how to keep the kitchen clean and tidy
  3. Cleaning – Camberwell Site – Travel to our various cleaning contracts in our minibus and learn the many different cleaning skills required

SRA also has an IT department, where trainees can learn or improve their basic computer skills, search for work and training opportunities, and complete pre-employment activities (e.g., writing CV and cover letters, filling out forms, etc.).
