The South West Thames Kidney Fund supports the research into kidney disease and diabetes at the South West Thames Institute for Renal Research. The aim of the research is:
• To improve the quality of patients’ lives by finding the causes of kidney failure
• To slow down the process of kidney failure
• To improve the treatments and ultimately find a cure.
Our executive committee and volunteers are dedicated to raise funds to support research into kidney disease. We organise annual and occasional fundraisers, search for and apply for grants, and do everything we can to raise community and national awareness of the causes of and preventions for this potentially devastating disease, the main causes of which are high blood pressure and diabetes. We are a local charity supporting the locally based S W Thames Institute for Renal Research, but the work of the Institute has a global impact.
