Objectives

South London Community Music is an umbrella charity with three affiliated ensembles: South London Jazz Orchestra, South London Symphonic Winds (wind band) and London Sings (choir). The Founder and Music Director, and Conductor of all three is Bob Bridges. Our ethos is community focus: we have no auditions or limit on the numbers in our ensembles. This is an unusual approach, but we still achieve high standards - evidence being that audiences love us, and we usually get invited back when we perform!

We were established  as a charity in 1999 and became incorporated in 2011.

Activities

We have an 'open door' approach for membership, and keep subs as low as we can.

We seek out opportunities to perform on e.g. bandstands, pavements (London Marathon is an annual fixture), but we also do more high profile events, especially charity fundraising ones.. And the groups also try to go abroad once a year.

This is our 21st anniversary year, and the organisation is still going strong and growing.
