Soundwell provides music therapy within the South West for adults whose lives are seriously affected by mental health issues. We support people in their mental health recovery and provide emotional support to carers, using music to explore creativity, communication and expression. This can rebuild hope and transform lives.
We deliver our services through both long and short-term therapy groups, plus one-off workshops. Participants play music together using a wide range of instruments from around the world. No previous musical skill or knowledge is needed to take part. People are encouraged to explore the sounds of the different instruments, supported by professionally qualified and state registered music therapists who join in and support the music-making. Most of the music is improvised.
