To advance, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and appreciation of, the art and science of music, in particular street band and outdoor music (including but not limited to village and town bands and collective music making practices used for processions, rituals, parades, dances, protests and civic occasions) and the culture, history and traditions that accompany such music through the presentation of public events and performances, workshops and educational activities.
we organise festivals in and around Somerset, which are free to attend. They are in open and safe spaces with full accessibility. Some of them are 1 day events, but we hold an annual 3 day event as well. We run education courses for both adults and children, but also for educators. These are also free. We run a (free) youth street band and a primary street band and have links with many street bands across the country, both community and professional.
