Our beneficiaries include men and women, 18+, though the majority are male retirees. Many are dealing with issues around physical or mental health, social isolation, ageing, unemployment, and include carers seeking respite and ex-offenders/probationers re-integrating back into society.
Our social space and practical workshop environment -The Shed - provides the opportunity for men, who may be struggling to cope with illness or social isolation, to connect with other men through shared practical activity.
The Shed Community is one of mutual support, good humour and strong "esprit de corps", and greatly contributes to maintaining each individual's sense or worth, acceptance and wellbeing
We provide the workshop facilities, space and time for our beneficiaries to undertake personal creative projects, community inspired projects or commissions from the public. Activities are undertaken by members according to individual aptitude and ability, with skill sharing occurring as required. We offer an inclusive, non-judgmental environment where all are welcome irrespective of background, life experience and situation. We ensure safe working practices. From time to time we have visiting speakers who present on aspects of male health, particularly for the older male
