- Provides low cost, short-term, early intervention counselling to children and young people and their families mainly to low income families in SomersetÂ
- Raises funds to recruit and pay independent and experienced counsellors to deliver short term, early intervention counselling (6 sessions) to cases referred to FCT Somerset, mainly from educational professionals and self-referrals, Assessment is made as to the suitability of the case for the short term model and if suitable are matched with an appropriate therapist, Referrals are initially processed by the Family Liaison Officer (a paid position) and assessed by a voluntary panel of experienced professionals. Advice and guidance is offered to those who are not suitable for the FCT service and where possible signposted to other organisations.Â
