Objectives

The Sleep Charity is a small, multi-award-winning national organisation based in Doncaster. We are on a mission to empower the nation to sleep better. In 2020 the charity was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a charity can be given.

Our work has a growing reputation for excellent in the field of sleep support and a strong evidence-base. We have an advisory board, known as ‘The Sleep Council’ who provide a link between national experts in the field and our Trustee Board.

Supporting those that have sleep issues is at the heart of everything we do. With over 40% of the nation suffering sleep difficulties, we know that we need to significantly extend our reach. We are currently going through a period of planned growth and are excited about our future.

Activities

The organisation provides direct support to families of children with sleep issues in areas where our work is commissioned by the NHS. A national sleep helpline was launched in 2021 catering for both adult and children’s sleep issues. We also provide training to professionals, parent/carers and corporate clients to embed good sleep practice at scale.

The charity has close links with numerous academic institutions and is actively involved in research projects. We also campaign to raise awareness of the importance of sleep for wellbeing and launched a manifesto for sleep in the House of Commons last year.
