Objectives

Sight for Surrey is a fast-growing charity providing specialist sensory services in Surrey.

We work with people of all ages to live life to the full and to be as independent as they are able to be whether they are Deaf, hard of hearing, have vision impairment or are deaf and blind.

Activities

Sight for Surrey is a user-led charity delivering services across Surrey. We were first established in 1922 to offer charitable services to people who had returned from the First World War blinded, but we have come a long way since then!

For instance, for more than 20 years we have worked on behalf of Surrey County Council to provide specialist services to people who are visually impaired or are deaf and blind. Earlier this year the County showed their trust in us by contracting us to also deliver their services for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Many of our activities, services and training programmes that make such a difference to the adults and children we support. They are entirely reliant on us being able to raise charitable funds. These services add considerable value to the people we help and significantly under-pins the statutory services we deliver on behalf of the County Council.

For instance our life skills and habilitation work on behalf of Surrey County Council is accompanied by a significant recreation and experiences programme for children and young people. The statutory work would be considerably less effective without the value that our charitable services add.
