Objectives

We are a charity and community of voluntary collaborators from all walks of life, united by a shared mission: to empower people to support their own mental health. We recognise there’s no one size fits all when it comes to managing your mental wellbeing; every brain is different, and that’s to be celebrated.

We believe that people need more support managing their mental health. we want to empower them with tools and guidance to develop the confidence and resilience to cope with the normal stresses of life. In particular we believe that:

  • People should have the opportunity and support to equip themselves with the tools they need to cope with their own mental health
  • The journey to positive mental wellbeing should be a source of pride, not stigma
  • People have diverse needs and should have access to personalised support tailored to their own situation
  • People deserve a safe, non-judgemental space that can make a difficult conversation more achievable

While open and accessible to all, we focus our efforts on supporting those going through key life transitions; for example, adolescence, job changes, relationships, new families, retirement and bereavement.

Activities

We work across 3 areas; creating tools, organising information and encouraging positive conversations about mental health.

Our aim is to help you help yourself, without all the preaching! sidekick is a completely free platform and app that is home to a growing collection of interactive exercises, tools, and tips to help boost your mental wellbeing. Try out exercises, save your favourites, and create your own fully personalised wellbeing toolkit. Next time you feel overwhelmed and need a helping hand, you know everything you need is in your toolkit, right where you left it.

In addition to our app, we run a podcast series called 'sidekick stories', encouraging open and honest conversations about mental health, as well as a blog featuring great content from guest bloggers.
