Objectives

Today we are in the midst of a global mental health crisis - 1 in 6 children in the UK have a diagnosable mental health issue and CAMHS (suicide support) waiting lists are overwhelmed.

Show and Tell Photo is helping. Photography has been used to save lives and transform mental health for decades. Our youth dedicated programme teaches 9-18 year olds proven mindful photography techniques to support life-long mental wellbeing.

Our motto 'Photography for life, not likes' informs everything that we do and we are here to help every child combat this escalating mental health crisis.

Show and Tell Photo is relevant for all young people, including special educational needs and rehabilitation - in any setting, including schools, specialist provision schools, hospitals, refugee camps and secure units.

Today Show and Tell Photo serves over 700 schools and thousands of young people, parents and carers across the UK and beyond.

Activities

Our resources are free, online and on-demand, including;

  • Professional Workshop Films - hosted by star photographers and clinical psychotherapy professionals make therapeutic photography techniques available to all. Each film has a specific theme and is accompanied by an easy-to-follow task, encouraging further mindful photography practice.
  • Live Feedback Photography Sessions - hosted exclusively for schools, they connect students in the classroom directly with our Show and Tell Photo workshop photographers for expert guidance and encouragement.
  • The 'How Are You Feeling' Mental Health Campaign - invites young people to bring their emotions to life through a photograph, making cognitive x art therapy accessible to all. Exhibited online and via billboards
  • Public Art -  a number of the "How are you Feeling?" images are chosen by judges to feature in our nationwide billboard campaigns, seen by millions every year
  • Creative PSHE Sessions - exclusively for schools, our talks deeply explore some of the most important topics affecting young mental health today.
