Our strategic aim is to “Safeguard and promote the unique heritage resource of Shoalstone Seawater Pool, for the health, enjoyment and pleasure of the people of Brixham, residents and visitors, today and for future generations”.
Shoalstone Seawater Pool is a 53-metre sea water swimming pool situated in a stunning position on Brixham sea front: one of only a few left in the country. It is built into a natural rock pool that has been popular for bathing since Victorian times. Local people took over its management in 2014, with a focus on both maintaining and improving the current facility and exploring ways of making it sustainable for many more years to come.
Our core activity is the running of the Shoalstone Seawater pool complex, which consists of the sea water swimming pool, Shoalstone green that includes a cafe and picnic area, and the associated facilities such as the beach huts. We then provide a calendar of events, including pool based activities, volunteering opportunities, health and well-being events, and links with other local groups such as the Global GeoPark, theatre and museum. Shoalstone Seawater Pool is an integral part of the town of Brixham, valued by residents and visitors alike, and also supports the local economy providing employment and attracting people to the town as a whole.
