Shared Lives South West is an award winning regional charity operating in Cornwall, Devon, Torbay and Plymouth. We support adults over 18 years of age and young people in transition from the age of 16 upwards. We support people with a learning disability, people with mental health issues, older people, and people with early stage dementia and parents with a learning disability. Shared Lives is a very special type of social care - it's all about people in the local community supporting others to live their lives to the full by sharing their home and family life, as well as their skills and experiences as care workers.
Every Shared Lives service is planned around the wishes, needs and aspirations of the person using the service. We record their goals and ambitions and review the plan annually. To achieve this we need to ensure we recruit, assess, train and support high quality carers. Part of this process is our Approval Panel, made up of volunteers, which meets on alternate months to recommend potential carers for approval who have been assessed by our skilled and experienced staff. Shared Lives South West is registered with the Care Quality Commission.
Approval Panel members support us in the approval & de-approval of Shared Lives Carers by quality checking (reading, reviewing and auditing)...
