Seren in the Community will build upon the success of our Friends of Splott Play Centre group and acquire the buildings of Splott and Adamsdown Play Centres through Community Asset Transfer.
We will be working with the community in the Splott, Tremorfa and Adamsdown areas who are significantly deprived and have a high proportion of Black and Ethnic minority residents, as well as a high proportion of families in low income households.
Our aims are as follows:
To develop thriving community buildings that are sustainable in the long term.
To support the development of volunteers; they are encouraged and supported to deliver activities and services from the community buildings and in the wider community.
To make ourselves sustainable by developing a trading arm that will manage room bookings, birthday parties and a community café from the community hub.
To increase opportunities for parents, adults and families to return to work.
To provide opportunities for children to thrive, learn and play.
To improve the health of local children and families.
To increase participation in mainstream learning for children, parents and families.
To offer opportunities to children and young people who are excluded from education whilst other alternatives are being sought.
