Sebby's Corner believes no child goes without basic essentials. We supply items such as clothing, nappies, formula and baby equipment to local families living in poverty.
Families in need get referred to us by social workers, health visitors, family support workers, midwives and other professionals to ensure we reach the most vulnerable families.
All our donations need to be sorted and packed up for the families who need them. You will be fully briefed and we have both daytime and evening slots. We have also now introduced a hub specifically for Ukranian families so we also need volunteers to staff this hub and help the families choose the items they need. Both our hubs are in Borehamwood, WD6.
The type of families we help include those living in poverty, women and their children who have left domestic abuse, and refugees who have arrived in the country with nothing. The demand for our service is increasing and we regularly hear stories of parents who go without food so they can buy formula, or babies who get nappy rash from staying in nappies too long as parents can't afford to buy more. We provide families with the basic essentials.
We also operate a "top up" system for local organisations such as food banks and refuges so they never run out of the items they need to support their families.
We believe every child deserves a gift on their special day which is why we introduced our Birthday Club.
Children in our Birthday Club receive a gift (usually several!), balloons, decorations and of course a birthday cake. Any child up to age 17, living anywhere in the UK is eligible, if they are living in difficult circumstances. Any professional can refer a child, including teachers.
