Formerly known as the Royal Scottish Corporation, ScotsCare is a modern 21st century organisation with a 400 year-old history of helping out Scots, and the children of Scots, in London.
And we’re finding that the need for our support has never been greater.
Today ScotsCare offers a range of services and support for Scots and their families, across the London area. We help with housing, health, advocacy welfare grants, training, housing assistance, respite holidays, social events, befriending services and counselling.
ScotsCare is essentially a grant giving charity and Scots living on a low income, can apply for help to cover the cost of essential household items, respite holidays, funeral costs, training and education.
One of our main focuses at the moment is to improve the lives of families with children, enabling the younger generation to have the best start in life as is possible. Parents can apply for an annual clothing grant, funding for out of school activities and an annual family activity holiday, in addition we organise a number of social outings for them and the over 50’s throughout the year.
Our three housing sites provide a safe, secure and affordable home for around 90 disadvantaged individuals aged 55 and over and our Blether Buddy Befriending service manages a team of 25 volunteers, who each commit to spending time with clients to reduce isolation and improve emotional wellbeing.
Other support services include independent advocacy, career coaching, talking therapy, general advice and signposting.
