Objectives

The School of Medicine has an annual intake of 130 undergraduate medical students for its highly rated, innovative integrated MBChB five year course, which is committed to “Graduating Excellent Clinicians”.  The 2012-13 GMC QABME team reported, “the Keele curriculum prepares students well for working as a foundation doctor” and “F1 supervisors we met were impressed with the can-do attitude and maturity of Keele graduates”. The Keele MBChB course was ranked 7th in the National Student Survey for Medicine 2016, 9th in the Complete University Guide for Medicine 2017 and is rated 4th in the Guardian League for Medicine for 2017.   Since 2012, Keele has been in the top 4 of UK medical schools by the proportion of graduates appointed to ST and CT posts in the UK.

The School also offers a range of programmes, modules and short courses in postgraduate medicine aimed at addressing the differing needs of healthcare professionals at different stages in their careers. Courses offered include Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and Masters in Medical Education, Masters in Medical Science with a range of specialist routes such as Stroke, Surgery and Audit, and a range of Clinical Leadership and Management courses.  The School also offers 2 successful full-time Masters courses, in Cell & Tissue Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering.

Activities

Our degree programmes and foundation years have always been distinctively challenging, flexible and foster a broader based knowledge. Our interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach doesn’t just underpin a wonderful education but powers our world leading research. All of which also means we deliver greater impact and value from our research and teaching, globally as well as locally.

It’s little wonder our students and alumni are as individual as the University itself: progressive and accomplished, clear about who they are and what they want to be, equipped to meet some of the big challenges the world today presents, for the good of society and enterprise.
