Objectives

School Aid is a registered charity with over 16 years experience of sending high quality recycled educational materials to schools in disadvantaged communities in several countries in Africa.  Each day millions of children in Africa are unable to attend school, often due to a simple lack of basic school equipment.  Schools in deprived areas struggle to provide educational tools such as books, stationery and even chairs for their teachers and their learners, despite the best efforts of their communities.  Without a good education the escape from poverty is impossible.

Activities

School Aid work with partners in Africa to make sure that these good quality educational materials are getting to the schools and communities that really need our help. Since 2012, School Aid has set up a comprehensive new system to evaluate the impact of donated resources, from the arrival in a school and then for the next 18 months.  These statistics give a clear idea of the impact of the donations and support and enable us to improve our systems in the UK.

School Aid is particularly committed to helping schools and communities to set up new libraries and to improve the resources of existing libraries.  These libraries offer a significant means of improving access to books for students.

The aim for 2016 is to send 9 shipments out to long-term destinations, benefitting children in every age range.  Therefore, we are looking for more volunteers to sort and pack books in our very friendly warehouse.
