The Saxon Day Centre runs day services for older adults living in the local community. They may be people who are socially isolated with no family to support them, individuals who have recently lost their partner and now feel lonely or people with a diagnosis of dementia who attend the centre in order to give their carer or partner a break.
We provide day care where people can attend for the day and join in a range of activities including quizzes, reminiscence, bingo, board and card games or just sit and have a chat. We also provide a Men's Shed and Ladies Lounge for people who are missing the comaraderie between colleagues which is detrimental for their health and well being. We also provide a sitting service in an individuals own home so that partners or carers can attend hospital appointments or go shopping without worrying about their loved one being left alone.
The support we offer to older people from the local community is fundamental to their mental health and offers them a home from home break where they can sit in a watm and comfortable environment, with other like minded people, have a cup of tea and put the world to rights. It's also about friendship, fun and getting out.
