Objectives

The museum presents the history of Sandwich and surrounding areas from its beginnings during the Mesolithic period, right up to the present day. We have some significant items from our collection on display such as the town's copy of the Magna Carta, the Charter of the Forest, as well as information about the Huguenot's who settled in Sandwich and the part the town played during the Second World War. Through its work the museum is able to care for and preserve a large and diverse collection of objects and archives, for the benefit of the town and wider communities.

Activities

Our volunteers are responsible for welcoming visitors to the museum, sharing information about the exhibitions and courtroom, answering questions and selling merchandise from our shop. All volunteers are trained on how to carry out these tasks. We are also working hard to care for, preserve and document our collections.
