The Sandford St Martin Trust promotes thought-provoking, distinctive programming that deals with religion, ethics and spirituality and administers the UK's most prestigious broadcasting awards for programmes dealing with these themes. In addition, the Trust lobbies at parliamentary and regulatory level and works with programme-makers at all levels of the industry to promote religious literacy and advocate for responsible journalism on TV, radio and online so that audiences have access to good programmes that fairly represent the UK's broad belief communities.
Through its annual awards run in partnership with the Radio Times magazine, the Trust promotes excellent broadcasting about all faiths, from major networks, independents and online sources, at local and national level. We also aim to make the case for quality broadcasting about religion by researching and promoting the facts about the state of religious broadcasting in the UK, and by sharing and inviting views on why and how it matters.
