Objectives

The purpose of our organisation is to provide a centre in the heart of the city of Chelmsford where individuals with complex needs can come and receive food, support and relief from isolation. We support any individual who comes through our doors. This includes; the vulnerable, rough sleepers, sofa surfers, the housed but are poverty stricken, those with mental and physical health challenges, those in addiction, those in social isolation and any one who needs our assistance and a place to belong.

Activities

Sanctus is a lifeline for the vulnerable and homeless in the city of Chelmsford via the provision of a day centre which has operated for 11 years. We provide a shelter from the cold with the aim of preventing loneliness for a vulnerable group within the community. We offer a safe and warm space to eat and be around others. We provide daily hot meals, hot and cold drinks, food and clothes. Our Hub extends those services through counselling and a wide range of training and support services. We offer the help and support to get people back on their feet and to make positive steps forward. We are rebuilding the community from the bottom up, person by person. We remained operating through every day of the pandemic and associated lockdowns. We are now tackling the impact of the cost-of-living crisis. We have an extensive range of success stories and have significant support from local government, other charities and local businesses. Future plans include an extension of services and also further routes for fundraising.
