Objectives

Our vision is to reduce the number of deaths by suicide in UK. We offer emotional support to those in distress or despair at times of crisis. We are here to listen when no-one else is - at any time of the day or night. We are a national organisation and our callers are of all ages.

Activities

As part of a nationwide organisation we respond to callers by phone or email 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. (In non-Covid times we also see people face-to-face). We listen without judgement and don't give advice. We provide a safe space for people to be heard and to explore their options.

To enable our volunteers to offer this service, we ensure that they are highly-trained and supported throughout their Samaritans service.

Current opportunities

We are looking for trustees - including a Branch Secretary

To be responsible for a variety of administration activities in the Branch to ensure the smooth running of Salisbury Samaritans.
