Our charity
Samaritans is a national charity providing 24/7 emotional support to anyone in distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide. Each day people who are lonely, desperate or struggling turn to Samaritans in search of compassion and a listening ear.
Since 1971, the volunteers of North Herts & Stevenage Samaritans, based in Hitchin (and known as ‘Hitchin Samaritans’), have been supporting people from all over the UK and Ireland. We also complete outreach work to support our local community, including Hitchin, Stevenage, Letchworth and Baldock, and the surrounding towns and villages.
