Objectives

SalGO Assist are in their 20th year. We are linked with an Indian charity, SalGOERCO in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Originally set up to support a small children's home and schools, there are now two larger homes. The charities also look after a small group of elderly men and 17 women, widows, families with HIV/Aids and other very poor and disadvantaged families. We encourage everyone in both the homes, families and local communities to value education and we support the young people financially to continue with their higher education. This makes a huge difference, especially to the girls.

Activities

We raise funds through sponsorship of the children, teachers and widows. With the help of sponsors and other volunteers we organise fundraising events throughout the year. The trustees meet monthly to receive project reports, assess needs and allocate funds. Some of the trustees visit the projects at their own expense, usually every other year, and we receive audited accounts from SalGOERCO.
