Salford Children's Holiday Camp at Prestatyn in North Wales was set up to provide a sea-side holiday for the disadvantaged children of Salford. The Holiday Camp hosts school groups, church groups, and a variety of youth groups, including Young Carers, Young Pregnancy Groups for a much needed holiday by the sea. The site provides full catering for groups and on-site staff to support residents. There is a range of play equipment, safe play spaces and easy access to the beach through the rear of the site. The benefits to children's physical and mental health as a result of a structured routine, regular meals and access to the outdoors is well-documented.
In order to take the next step, we need to build the depth and breadth of skills on the Management Committee to support the operations of the Camp, increase bookings and secure the funding necessary to develop the Camp for the future.
The Holiday Camp can accommodate up to sixty young people and their support staff in traditional single-bedded dormitory accommodation. All groups are fully catered and we offer this as cheaply as we can to enable as many children as possible to afford to visit.
There is a staff accommodation block and community facilities.
