Sahir House is a multi-award-winning charity, which provides support for people living with (or affected by) HIV, LGBTQ+ people and those from the asylum and refugee communities. We also provide a range of support, sexual health testing, health promotion and training services.
For 35 years, Sahir House has provided safe and confidential support in Merseyside for people living with HIV. We also support those marginalised and vulnerable because of related intersectionality such as refugee / asylum status, ethnicity, gender and sexuality, and related long term health conditions. We have recently expanded our charitable aims to reflect this, making this an exciting time to join us.
We provide a wide range of services to people living with HIV, including: emotional and practical support both at our centre and via outreach; counselling and psychotherapy across a range of modalities; a drop in; peer support; a helpline; immigration advice and support; access to specialist community nurses and welfare benefits help.
Other services include: training for professionals (nurses, dentists, GPs, social workers, housing officers etc); age appropriate training and information for children and young people about sex and relationships; outreach to groups at increased risk of HIV transmission; point of care testing for HIV (and other STIs); support groups for marginalised groups.
