Objectives

Ryedale Folk Museum is a community-focused organisation, working with and for the rural communities it serves. We are currently strengthening our work with rural people and communities, by delivering a new ten-year strategic plan which puts local people at the heart of everything we do. The Museum is also a key visitor attraction within the North York Moors National Park, providing visitors with an opportunity to explore life on the Moors from pre-history to the present day.

Activities

We are an open attraction, with historic buildings an an extensive collection of objects that tell the stories of local people through time. We care and conserve these items, as well as utilising them for public benefit. We work with other local partners to support the needs of rural people, including carer support groups and the local library service. Our work is varied and wide-ranging and we are currently developing all our networks and partnerships to deepen our engagement with communities in the area.
