Objectives

The overall aims of Ruby’s Yard CIC are to provide new opportunities for outdoor learning in a unique, canalside green space, with direct access onto the surrounding heritage trails and countryside.

CIC are working to  transform a former boatyard into a multipurpose, canalside amenity with an eco classroom & composting toilet, providing opportunities for informal learning, education, skills training, team development and recreation.

Activities

The aim is to create a safe, accessible, inclusive and sustainable community facility which serves local young people, and promotes social interaction and learning. We want to open the doors to group bookings, encourage shared use and increase opportunities for healthy outdoor recreation by schools, young people with special needs and other youth organisations serving in Atherstone and its surrounding neighbourhoods.

Our next big step in this journey is to build an eco classroom and wash room facility whilst protecting and enhancing the natural environment though education, learning and practical skills about adopting a low carbon approach to energy use, minimising waste and using recycled resources wisely.
