RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield & District is a branch of the RSPCA, dedicated to the welfare of animals and the prevention of cruelty to animals in the area of West Yorkshire. The branch provides support to pet owners and encourages responsible pet care through education, advice & support. The branch supports the National Society Inspectorate by accepting animal victims of cruelty and finding new forever homes through care in the branch animal centre, fostering and home visiting.
The branch is totally self funding and relies on the generosity of local supporters and donors to maintain the animal centre, and all branch animal welfare activities. The branch makes a real difference to animal welfare and responsible pet ownership through its daily activities and community based animal centre.
The branch follows the mission and vision of the National Society to prevent cruelty and promote animal welfare. We do this through the activities of the animal centre, providing full time animal care and through education & community based events to promote responsible pet ownership; assist with veterinary fees in an emergency and provide a community based service of advice and assistance to people with companion animals. The branch aims to be sustainable and operates fundraising & income generation activities alongside animal welfare to enable the branch to continue its work and provide some community support to those seeking volunteering opportunities.
