Objectives

RootPrints Theatre is a community theatre company that is passionate about creating fun, engaging and thought provoking workshops which aim to bring communities together, celebrate cultural diversity and promote a deeper sense of belonging.

At the heart of our work is the exploration of the multiple identities that a person might possess and how that impacts the way they negotiate their attachment to places and communities, while highlighting the benefits of being part of a culturally rich society.

Activities

RootPrints Theatre's Join our Party project is proudly being supported by the Brent 2020 Culture Fund as part of the London Borough of Culture 2020. Join our Party is an inclusive theatre project for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism in the borough of Brent. Through weekly drama workshops, participants will develop their creativity and be introduced to a range of theatre, movement and devising skills that will allow them to create their own performance exploring their diverse and vibrant roles as part of Brent’s community. Workshops will be run in a fun and creative environment full of music, dancing and acting where everyone will be encouraged to contribute their ideas and unique skills.

The show created by participants will then be shared in July 2020 through two performances open to the public. The first one at The Granville in South Kilburn and the second one at Brent’s 2020 Mile Long Street Party in Kilburn High Road.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers interested in working in an inclusive environment providing creative support for participants with mixed abilities. We are looking for people interested in community theatre, devising and are passionate about inclusion and access. Our main goal is to be able to provide enough support for every participant to join, enjoy and develop their skills throughout the project.
