We are planning to build a women's centre on a new social enterprise model where the community facilities are funded by housing.
We have spent some time trying to persuade public bodies to allocate a site to us for purchase but despite many promises nothing has yet materialised. We have therefore decided to try to raise funds to buy a site ourselves. First we plan to issue a community share offer and this will allow us to leverage loans and grants from elsewhere. Our developer, Thornsett, will also come on board to take on a lot of the risk once we have found a suitable site.
