Objectives

Ripon Museum Trust aims to enrich the lives of all who experience and are inspired by our historic law and order sites and collections. We operate 3 museums in the original historic buildings the Courthouse, the Workhouse and the Prison. Our museums benefit the community by engaging local people with their heritage and history, preserving and protecting unique buildings, supporting other voluntary organisations and offering a variety of volunteering opportunities.

The museums also have a beneficial impact economically on the district drawing visitors from around the country and internationally.

Activities

We strive to achieve our aims by being ambitious, working to the highest standards within a team of staff and volunteers as part of the community. Central to everything we do is learning so that we can offer our visitors, staff and volunteers the very best learning opportunities we can.

We have a small staff team of 3 with 104 active volunteers and 22 young volunteers working across all areas of museum operations and development. This includes: front of house, learning, finance and administration, marketing and research, gardening and maintenance, events and exhibitions.
