Objectives

Riding Lights Theatre Company is an artistic community drawn together around a common vision - to explore all aspects of life through theatre created from a broad Christian perspective.

We partner with other charities like Water Aid, Christian Aid, Operation Noah and Open Doors, to create theatre exploring issues of justice or equality.

We run Friargate Theatre, our home in York where we create shows and launch tours to perform to audiences across the UK.

Activities

  • We run youth theatres for ages 11-18 including Acting UP! for young people with additional needs and disabilities.
  • We run a wide range of workshops serving all ages including 50+
  • We take restorative justice workshops for prisoners and ex offenders
  • We welcome 100 people to our annual Summer Theatre School.
  • Our community company, Roughshod, works in schools, prisons, churches, homeless shelters, engaging with current issues and ready to perform and entertain in any context.
