The ReUse Centre helps people in need of low-cost furniture, white goods and other household items by selling donated goods. It helps its volunteers to gain work and life skills, enabling a progression into the workplace. By taking unwanted goods out of the waste cycle, it helps the environment.
Using a warehouse, two retail sites and a small van fleet, we collect unwanted goods form donors and sell them to our "members" (people on a qualifying range of benefits) and to the general public at a higher price. We have a skeleton paid staff and a large volunteer cohort, some of whom come to us via DWP return-to-work programmes.
We have defined disposal routes for goods that cannot be resold, such as mattresses and broken white goods. We are one of the few charities in the area with in-house PAT testers for electrical items.
