Objectives

There are 22 million people over 50 in the UK, a third of the country approaching or living with retirement and the challenges it brings.

Retirement Postponed (RP) is a start-up Community Interest Company, (CIC), providing an information resource and contact point designed to meet those challenges, keep people active and interested, feeling more secure, enjoying life and encouraged to look forward with optimism.

1.2 million over 65’s are still working full-time and that number is growing rapidly.

RP’s primary focus is on Work – full and part-time, short-term, long-term, paid or voluntary, employed or self-employed - and campaigning within the jobs market for our people to be considered for the opportunities they present and the values they bring to any workplace.

We set out to represent a generation of "active, sociable, intelligent, creative people who refuse to allow age to define them or limit their expectations from life."

They are facing stress and challenges on a number of levels, an uncertain future, practically, domestically and financially.

So our remit extends past Work, to issues around Money, Property and Life in general, to create an information resource that can become a lifeline for this generation. Always positive, forward-looking and constructive, we talk to them, and speak for them, in a language they understand, from a standpoint they can trust.

Anyone who has been made redundant will know how self-confidence, self-respect and sense of worth can be undermined.  We are committed to the restoration of all three.

We do this as a website and social network hub. The website provides the substance. The Facebook develops the interaction. Both will feed each other.

We deliver value at every turn. With those we help find suitable occupations, it is self-evident. Those employing them receive levels of experience and ability for any job that will often exceed the norms of their market by some distance, and at a cost that may well be below the average. The Government gets a double whammy - additional tax revenues, often coupled with a delay in taking State Pension.

Activities

We are currently running the most comprehensive, collected free listing of Non-executive, Trustee and Voluntary posts in the country. We do this on RP and another site we are managing, RetirementReinvented.com  As we expand we shall add associated mainstream recruitment agencies and Job Centre listings for Full and Part-time posts. Although we are not promoting ourselves, we are achieving around 1000 hits per week. Our Facebook community is growing.

We have to get ourselves into a position where the website information bank is fully populated and we have been able to expand out team before we open ourselves fully to our community.
