We are an independent charity committed to replacing the use of animals in scientific research. For the past 50 years we have played an active part in researching and promoting alternatives to animal testing. Our vision is a world where no animal suffers for science.We are dedicated to the development of scientifically valid, human-relevant methods that will replace laboratory animals in medical and scientific research, education, and testing. The development of modern techniques that use human tissue and computer modelling will ultimately provide more relevant information on human diseases and more reliable methods for drug discovery than animal models.
Through scientific and desk-based research, we are continually investigating, funding and developing valid methods at the forefront of science. The charity also campaigns, collaborates with industry, publishes a scientific journal, offers grants and summer studentship awards, and provides training and education to current and future generations of scientists.
