Repair Cafe Wales is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company with the core values of waste reduction, skill sharing, and community cohesion. Repair cafes enable people from a diverse range of backgrounds to come together in a supportive environment, which in turn strengthens community resilience. Our mission is to support the communities we serve develop a culture of repair and reuse, and to work towards a more circular economy, directly addressing the ever-growing emergency of unsustainable growth in landfill and waste.
We facilitate regular pop-up events at which members of the local community can get household items fixed for free by volunteers, in order to prevent the items ending up in landfill. Since our inception in 2017, we have grown to encompass a network of 34 repair events across Wales, each with its own local organiser and volunteer base, and have assisted over 4,000 people with broken items. We also work for our communities to influence standards for goods and government policy, using the data we collect from our events to help inform policy decisions that promote a greener, more sustainable world.
