Objectives

The Rendezvous Society T/A Global Footsteps is a Cheltenham based registered charity that works locally and abroad to support grassroots inter-cultural educational and environmental projects through volunteering and friendships. We have a base in Cheltenham that incorporates a cafe/shop/office. That property is totally solar powered to demonstrating our commitment to the environment. Our charity contributes to the development of sustainable communities locally and globally as well as developing education opportunities for young people.

Activities

Our latest project is in partnership with CO2balance UK Ltd and the Aniga Women's Group in Kisumu Kenya.  The project will provide energy efficient cook stoves which reduce significantly the amount of wood used compared to a traditional open cooking fire. These stoves also reduce the amount of toxic fumes and reduce carbon emissions.

The Global Footsteps cafe provides ethically sourced coffee and the shop offers Fair-trade Goods. The cafe is staffed by volunteers from various diverse backgrounds and working in the cafe provides them with employment training especially food hygiene and a start to their working life.

We have a young organisation called Little Footsteps to welcome new foreign families with toddlers to the area. We also run language classes in the cafe twice a week.
