Objectives

We want every vulnerable young person in the UK aged 11-17  to have the opportunity to access professional, relationship based youth services where they can receive the support and opportunities they need in order to thrive in all areas of life.

Our strategic aims are:

  1. To work with Christian partners to create Relational Hubs in every county in the UK.
  2. To bring together Christain youth organisations, churches and Christain youth workers equipping, training and supporting them to deliver quality community youth work, achieving better outcomes for young people.
  3. To be the lead advocate for the impact and power of community based, faith led youth work. Helping central government, local authorities and voluntary sector groups understand the benefit of the ‘church’s’ impact in this area.

Activities

We partner with Churches and organisations to create thriving community youth work projects that provide a welcoming and relational space for young people after school, becoming a home away from home for the young people who need one most.

We support our partners in five key areas outlined below. We will work alongside any church or organisation that shares our vision and key principles for young people.

1. Organisational Audit

Our first step when working with a new partner is to perform an audit to review the essential foundations needed to deliver an effective project. We then undertake a Local Needs Assessment and Community Survey to evaluate the local needs. This process sets a realistic roadmap of the actions needed to move towards project launch. Once the actions are complete, a partnership agreement between Relational Hub and the church/organisation is signed.

2. Strategic Planning

We work with new partners to develop a strategic plan which acts as both an internal planning document and a case for support for future fundraising. As part of this process, we support the partner in project planning and planning operational delivery, budgeting, policy & procedure refinement, design of monitoring and evaluation procedures, staff training and stakeholder engagement including schools, local councils and other local authorities including the police.

3. Project Launch

With plans in place, we support the partner to work towards the practical elements of opening their project. This involves face to face visits, event planning support and troubleshooting any issues that arise in the first stages of launching their project.

4. Ongoing Support

Once the project is up and running, our focus is on ensuring that the youth workers feel equipped and supported. We undertake by-weekly support calls and termly face to face visits. We hold Relational Hub Collectives three times a year that offer online training sessions for all our partners’ key staff, upskilling and inspiring them to keep delivering their projects. We also provide an organisational audit on an annual basis which sets a clear process for updating our partners strategic plans for the next year and beyond.

5. Monitoring and Evaluation

Once up and running we provide a termly workshop for partners to reflect on their work with young people and review the use of our monitoring and evaluation tools to make sure they are being used consistently and provides our partners the information they need to evaluate the impact and outcomes of their project
