RefugeeEd works to ensure children and adults on the move have access to a good education, by supporting community teachers and local education organisations.
Activities
Today in Greece:
There are 166,000 refugees or asylum seekers. Many are stuck in camps and unstable accommodation.
86% of children do not attend formal school. Adults need language education to help them build their future.
Many individuals from within the refugee and migrant community have set up their own teaching practice to help meet this need.
Most of them have never taught before, and would like support to do the best they can for their communities.
Numerous local organisations also deliver education for people on the move.
The situation for them is complex and always changing. When you’re focused on daily challenges, it’s difficult to train volunteers or build networks to share ideas and insights.
That’s where refugeeEd fits in…
We support teachers to educate their community through our Community Teacher Training (CTT) programme.
We match grassroots organisations with teachers, and education specialists who provide tailored training and mentoring.
We share free teaching resources and build networks between local organisations to share knowledge and good practice.
